A range of penalties on conviction exist for Food Safety offences, with the majority in the band of up to £5,000.
There are however some where the maximum fine is £20,000 at the magistrates court or carry the possibility of a prison sentence. Unlimited fines can be imposed if the matter goes to the Crown Court or for some offences there are powers for unlimited fines at magistrates courts as well.
